And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15 King James Bible

Why did we believe

""That God saves from corruption and damnation those whom he has chosen from the foundations of the world, not for any disposition, faith, or holiness that he foresaw in them, but of his mere mercy in Christ Jesus his Son, passing by all the rest according to the irreprehensible reason of his own free-will and justice.""

- Waldensian creed

We have been known, we have been loved, our misery has been seen, we have been drawn, we have been humbled, we have been given life, we have been justified, sanctified, glorified, before the foundation of the world. Our salvation in its entirety has been accomplished and finished before and outside of time. The LAW couldn't annul the promise of God, but enabled it, as the FALL couldn't cancel the afore prepared glory of God in his saints, but enabled it, so that even the fall is ultimately and finally for our good.

Why God chooses not to save some is not in our business, but his choice of many within our own nation and abroad is our life commitment and business. As Paul the Apostle said "
I endure everything for the sake of the elect ....that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."

    Which verses of the Bible?

  2. For the "damnation" part:

12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Belief/faith is the most important instrument of realizing the election. So much so that without faith, no mention of election can ever be made. Thats why Romans 3-5 is about faith and later 8 about assurance/election, Romans 9 being about those not elect, put between 8 - chapter of assurance and 10 - chapter of the tokens of faith, because it is the hardest doctrine, and most painful for the flesh

    1. "from the beginning" the apostle means that election took place before the mystery of iniquity started its work, to re-assure the brethren that they are protected from it.

As the law couldn't turn true elect Israel into hypocrites and self-righteous enemies of God. The delusion of antichrist wasn't meant for/couldn't divert the elect from the truth.

Overall, the fall and its effects couldn't destroy those, to whom the promise was conceived. Thats why Paul in Romans 8 talks about "creatures" not being able to separate us from God.

    2. Neither from entering the union, nor from keeping this union with God.

    3. "because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:"

Well, frankly, I cannot believe in the Calvinist predestination, because it is in frontal clash with a very much larger quotes in the Bible which, without ambiguity, point to a clear free-will point.
I read that a marking out on HOW salvation is made visible by God, with sanctification (separation) and full immersion of the whole proper life in the truth. Deuteronomy 7:6 is another example of what really means "chosen". He chose you but He leaved you the free will to follow Him or to replicate Adam's sin. How many Jews refused the calling, notwithstanding were "chosen"?

    4. I understand your point. Certainly, these verses do not exhaust the controversy or my standpoint, I admit there are verses which would lead one to believe there is a choice so to speak. I know there is a choice so-to-speak, but a man, who is not changed by God and led to be enlightened to the truth cannot ever make the right choice. I mean, i cannot put my finger and say "here, this is the actual moment i got saved, i chose Christ", but i can give testimony to how God has led me through the phases of realization and has drawn me to himself, in spite of my fear of him and in spite of my sins, which constantly drew me away from him, to that moment when I was fully committed to him and could say I'm his and love him.

    5. And it is true that many are not drawn at all, so that when Jesus said "I will draw all", he couldn't possibly refer to all men, because many will not know anything of Christ and many who do are repulsed or indifferent as a rock
